SPECIALTY GRASSES

Overseeding? TMI perfects the "Art of Overseeding" worldwide! Check these varieties and some that add color and texture to your jobsite!

Backspin

Backspin Creeping Bentgrass
In National trials, Backspin holds its own among the elite new creeping bentgrasses. Summer density is similar to SR1020, Crenshaw and Providence. Leaf texture is equal to SR1020, Providence and Southshore. Has better Dollar Spot resistance than 18th Green or Crenshaw. And, overall mean turfgrass quality is at par with Crenshaw, Cato, and Southshore.

Barracuda

Barracuda Redtop
Created to meet the specific needs for seeding athletic fields, lawns, and golf courses. Establishes quickly and performs well under moderate to low fertility. Barracuda will grow under a greater variety of conditions than other grass seed, even on soils very poor in lime. Barracuda is a perennial grass with a creeping habit of growth, darker green than common redtop. Drought tolerant, dense turf with excellent mowing qualities.

Celestial Strong Creeping Red Fescue

Celestial Strong Creeping Red Fescue
This dark green selection adds early spring green up and the best summer and fall density of any fine fescue. Improved resistance to leaf spot and red thread are also counted among its attributes. Like Fortitude, Celestial is an excellent low-maintenance grass in sun or shade. Celestial shines under reduced management regimes.

Contessa Bermudagrass Contessa Bermudagrass
A "princess" type bermudagrass with color and texture that parallels even the best sprigged-type bermudas.

Cypress Poa Trivialis

Cypress Poa Trivialis
Private and university trials have shown Cypress to be a premier overseeding grass. Cypress Poa trivialis establishes fast and can be cut close immediately, even after overseeding. As your Bermudagrass goes dormant, Cypress will provide the finest dark green putting surface with no interruption in play. Cypress is tolerant to shade and damp soils. This unique prostrate growing variety thrives in cool weather and will survive cold weather that will damage Turf Type Ryegrasses. But most important, Cypress will maintain its dark green color all winter long. As the weather turns hot in the spring, Cypress will die out naturally as your Bermudagrass begins to grow. Cypress will not choke out your Bermudagrass in the spring as some heat tolerant Perennial Ryegrasses do.

Del Sol

Del Sol Seeded Bermudagrass
Del Sol seeded bermudagrass will produce a dark green turf of medium fine texture. Easy to establish from seed, Del Sol has good seedling vigor It will produce a permanent lawn with greater density, yet low in thatch. A reduced plant height means less mower clippings. Del Sol can be mowed at lower mowing heights without scalping.

Del Sol also has excellent drought tolerance. Plus, Del Sol has increased durability, wear tolerance and improved pest and disease resistance.

Firefly Hard Fescue Firefly Hard Fescue
This improved hard fescue has state of the art improvements in red thread resistance. An excellent low maintenance grass, Firefly can be used on golf course roughs, parks and shade areas.
Fortitude Strong Creeping Red Fescue Fortitude Strong Creeping Red Fescue
An improved color and texture make this an excellent choice for mixing with today's perennial ryegrass and Kentucky bluegrass species. A great all-around grass for sunny and/or partially shaded areas. Fortitude can even be used ornamentally in unmowed low maintenance situations.

Froghair

Froghair Intermediate Ryegrass
Froghair is a new intermediate ryegrass developed to be strictly an overseeding type for situations where the ultimate in turf quality is not the issue. Its purpose is to replace the use of Annual Ryegrass with improved color and texture. Froghair also exhibits a somewhat reduced growth rate, and reduced persistence to ease spring transition in overseeding situations. Froghair is considerably darker in color than Annual Ryegrass and is less expensive than Perennial Ryegrasses.

Intrigue Chewings Fescue
Intrigue Chewings Fescue
Intrigue (DDE) Fescue (festuca Rubra) is a turf type cultivar selected from 36 progenies of which contained the Epichloe Endophyte. These clones trace their origins to plans selected from plants originally selected from old turf of the Northeastern region of the United States starting in 1962. Selected clones were chosen based on attractive, rich, dark-green color, disease resistance, and high shoot density with a lower growing turf type growth profile.

Minotaur Hard Fescue

Minotaur Hard Fescue
Minotaur is the first commercial cross between Blue fescue and Hard Fescue. It is an advanced generation synthetic cultivar that produces a dense tufted turf with a green to blue green foliage. The high levels of endophyte and short plant height and flag leaf length make it an excellent low maintenance grass.

Star Dust

Star Dust Poa Trivialis
TMI has spent years developing StarDust to be more disease resistance and itís one of the darkest commercial Poa trivs for better color matches with some of today's darkest green ryegrasses. University overseeding trials in Florida and Arizona have shown StarDust is setting the next standard that other Poa trivs can only hope to achieve!

Transcontinental Seeded Bermudagrass

Transcontinental Seeded Bermudagrass
Transcontinental seeded Bermudagrass ranked in the top 3 best performing seeded Bermudagrasses in the recent NTEP trials. But, Transcontinental is a better value because its superior seed yield makes it affordable.

Trueline

TrueLine Creeping Bentgrass
A dark green Bentgrass variety with uniform leaf texture and growth habit. Resistant to many turf diseases, Trueline will give excellent turf performance. Trueline is adapted to the cool-season and transition zones and the northern sections of the warm-season zone. As an overseeding Bentgrass for dormant Bermuda, one can expect excellent winter color. When mixed with Cypress Poa Trivialis, Trueline Bentgrass has time to become established while the Poa Triv affords nearly immediate, close cut putting surface.

Warwick

Warwick Hard Fescue
Warwick Hard Fescue excels when low maintenance, shade tolerance and drought tolerance are important..

Wild Things

WILD THINGS
Consists of a mixture of selected annual and perennial wildflowers. The annuals will bloom the first year and reseed themselves, and the perennials will overwinter and bloom starting the second year. Designed for low maintenance and to produce a display of colorful blossoms from late Spring through early Fall. Regional and Low Profile mixtures are available.

ZEN Brand

ZEN Brand Seeded Zoysiagrass
Zoysia is a warm season creeping perennial that forms a very dense turf by means of slow growing underground rhizomes and above ground stolens. Zoysia requires little or no fertilizer and less mowing. Zoysia is extremely wear tolerant, has high drought and heat tolerance, improved cold tolerance, and salt tolerance. Domant winter color is more pleasing than Bermudagrass.
