Aquarius 3 is an excellent, dark green turf-type perennial ryegrass with a semi- upright growth habit and fine foliar texture. This new variety has very attractive turf performance in applications where emphasis is placed on aesthetic value.

Aquarius 3 was developed from especially selected plants out of older production field of the parent variety Aquarius. Plants selected were shorter in overall mature height, had excellent dark green foliage and somewhat wider leaf blades than its parent variety to improve its overall adaptation.

Aquarius 3 is well adapted throughout the cool, humid regions with moderate temperatures where most turf-type ryegrasses have assumed an important role as reliable and attractive turf performers. Its best use is for well manicured, ornamental lawns where aesthetics rather than traffic tolerance is the major consideration. The variety also serves well as an overseeded grass on southern golf courses during the winter and spring.
